Omar Al-Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him), the second caliph of Islam, ruled for nearly ten years over a total area of 2,251,030 square miles. His rule was exemplary, as every decision or action he took was guided by the word of Allah, as stated in the Holy Quran. It is hard to imagine that any ruler with a vast empire, like Omar Al-Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him), lived as a simple man among the common people. But that is exactly what he did.
